Ciocârlia (The Skylark) is a unique work by Romanian composer Angheluş Dinicu. The unique vibrato on the high-pitched E string of the violin shows the scene of the skylark contending, bright sunshine and picturesque scenery in the mountains and forests.
This piece is performed by Mr. Paul Tsao, a famous Chinese music master performer, with a soft bow Jinghu.
The soft bow jinghu can vividly imitate the chirping of birds and the sound of insects. It was sadly lost for many years. In the early 1980s, Tsao reinvented it according to the records in books and files, and studied and innovated new playing skills, which was called “the unique skill of bowing strings or magic bowing“.
