New Bodycam Footage Reveals Tense Moments Before Trump Assassination Attempt Butler Township Police Department has released bodycam footage capturing the chaotic moments leading up to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. The footage reveals two officers desperately trying, and failing, to prevent Thomas Crooks from opening fire from a high vantage point. One of Crooks’ shots grazed Trump’s ear, another tragically claimed the life of firefighter Corey Comperatore, and others left two additional rally attendees injured. In one piece of the footage, we see the officer who famously spotted Crooks before the shooting but was unable to stop him. Two officers attempted to inspect the roof, but without access to Crooks’ ladder, they struggled. One officer eventually managed to peek over the roofline, only to be confronted by Crooks aiming an AR-15 directly at him. The officer fell over two meters, severely injuring his ankle.
