Coffee history of England and London

By 1700 there were 2000 coffee houses in London alone. And every coffee house had its specialty. The writers would go to one. The bankers would go to another one. The seafarers would go to another one. Coffee houses were Penny universities because for a penny you could get a cup of coffee and have these fantastic conversations. Indeed people wanted to get away from the pubs because you could actually go to the coffee house and without alcohol, you could actually work through what you were doing and business and so the coffee houses became a kingpin of which the social and the commercial life of London revolved.
