Ukraine’s intelligence service knew by Feb 1, 2014 the U.S. Embassy in Kiev was funding the revolution to install a pro-US government in Ukraine. Video in Russian with English subtitles is on VK at, On the “Open Air” program on the Zvezda TV channel, ex-Ukraine SBU officer Vasily Prozorov read excerpts from a secret report of the Counterintelligence Department of Ukraine’s SBU that was prepared on February 1, 2014. The report details direct involvement by the U.S. Embassy in support of rioting in Kiev intended to overthrow Ukraine’s elected government, and lists the names of Americans making financial payments to leaders of the revolution. The report was provided to Ukaine’s President Viktor Yanukovich (and thus also Russian intelligence officials) when the government was still strong and could have dispersed the mob in central Kiev. The report states in part: “Thus, an anlysis of the elements of the American presence in Ukraine allows us to predict the following: Officially declaring the desire for a peaceful resolution of the political situation in Ukraine, the US State Department will continue to increase pressure in order to further attract our country [Ukraine] into its own sphere of influence by changing the political leadership,” President Yanukovich and the Kremlin knew the U.S. was the driving force behind the revolutionary rioters in Ukraine (typically called the Maidan). They did nothing and the rioting in Kiev intensified. Their inaction resulted in the escalation of events to the point that Yanukovich fled the country on February 22, 2014 to seek refuge in Russia.
