“Corazon Partio“ Eliane Elias & Chucho Valdez, on Mirror Mirror

Eliane Elias, the Brazilian jazz pianist, singer, composer and arranger, describes this production she made with Chick Corea and Chucho Valdez, as a dream come true. Grammy winners and extraordinary musicians, the three of them met in duos to deliver the spectacular versions made for this album that they began to shape in 2018 and was released in 2021. From the songs Eliane chose, all standards of Latin American Music and Jazz, listen to this song written by the talented Spanish singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz that he included on his 1997 production “Mas“. Despite the title, Sanz originally performs “Corazon Partio“ (English for Broken Heart) in an upbeat version influenced by his native Flamenco rhythms. On this version Eliane brings the great Chucho Valdez to play in front o her, and this is how the name of the album comes from, for an interpretation that they turned into what appears to be an endless delivery of sublime messages that only the mastery of these two artists could make it possible. En esta versión Eliane trae al gran Chucho Valdez a tocar frente ella, y es asi como proviene el nombre del disco, para una interpretación que ellos convirtieron en lo que parece ser una interminable entrega de mensajes sublimes, y que solo la maestría de estos dos artistas pudo hacer posible.
