Jacquet de Mantua: Dum vastos Adriae fluctus - King’s Singers

Jacquet de Mantua (1483-1559): Dum vastos Adriae fluctus Jacquet de Mantua - originally Jacques Colebault - was so called because most of his time he spent in Mantova as a church musician. He must have composed this motet while in service in Mantova, as the text mentions the city’s river, Mincio in Latinised form: Mintius (or Mincius). This piece was composed in hommage of Josquin des Prés. In the second part it quotes both musically and by title five famous motets of Josquin: Praeter rerum seriem, Stabat mater, Inviolata integra et casta es, Salve Regina and Miserere.
