Two Straws (5:14) movement, n: change of position; passage from place to place, or from one situation to another The history: movement began as a four-piece in the winter of 2000, with aspirations of establishing themselves in the hardcore/metal scene. After recording a self-titled EP and playing countless shows across Northern California, the band parted ways with their original bass player. The remaining members—singer-Todd Barulich, guitarist-Joey Ruiz, and drummer-Matt McCoy—recruited a new bass player, Jacob Correa, and a second guitarist, Michael Orecchia. With the addition of the new members, movement’s straight-ahead melodic hardcore sound, which had garnered the respect of a loyal fan following and earned the band a spot on Live 105’s Local Lounge Compilation, gave way to more dynamic and complex songwriting.
