The second of three PedalPCB Marshall style pedal reviews. This time its the Angry Charles. This is PedalPCB’s take on the JHS Angry Charlie, a pedal attempting to recreate the sound of a Marshall JCM800 amplifier. Higher gain than the PedalPCB Van Pelt Drive (JHS Charlie Brown), this pedal uses a combination of a TL072 and LM833 op amp package, as well as, hard clipping LEDs to give you a pretty intense distortion.
This video takes you through a circuit analysis, a quick build, and a short demo.
*** Note that in the circuit analysis for the second LM833, I should have also mentioned additional gain as opposed to just filtering. ***
