The show opening created at Mercury Zeitgeist Film Studios was never completed due to logistics and budget. This sequence was the first pass and is mainly key drawings that are missing innumerable inbetweens, hence the choppiness of the action itself. The animation timing is also not accurate and the opening was, in reality, a full :60 (one minute) not the :45 as shown in the player timeline. The backgrounds were originally painted at Marvel Studios, but over the course of character animation Marvel Films decided to use all 3D backgrounds.
As 3D animation runs at 30fps and traditional 2D animation runs at 24fps, the animators encountered the dilemma of syncing the different disciplines into one. This meant they needed to redesign and reanimate for 30fps as it’s not a simple matter of adding 6 drawings to pick up the additional frame count.
