Viking Cooking; Roasted Hare and Oatmeal We noticed plenty of small game in the camps nearby environment, so we decided to place a few traps and catch our lunch. We got lucky and caught a hare in one of the traps. We skinned and gutted the hare, coated it in salted butter and prepared it for roasting. During the roasting process we poured beer over it, so that the meat stayed juicy and tasteful. When the meat was nearly done, we chopped our vegetables, fried them in butter and added oats.
