In this episode we’ll be looking at New Gamboge, by Daniel Smith. I’m presenting a tiny 5ml tube that I got with their essentials set. I really love this warm yellow. It has a slight orange-ish tint. I use it in many of my landscape paintings. *** Fun info *** This paints’ name is derived from Cambodia. Cambodia is named after the Latin word for Gamboge, with is Gambogium. The original Gamboge paint was produced from the evergreen tree Garcinia, that is common in South East Asia and Cambodia. As most organic pigments, it presented some issues with lightfastness (and this one was a
