Police smash windows to save family after car crashed in pond

Police smashed the windows of a car to rescue a family who had crashed their vehicle into a pond in Naperville, Illinois, on January 2, recently released bodycam footage shows. The Naperville Police Department posted the footage on January 10 from two of the three officers that entered the frigid water. One officer can be seen breaking the window of the white SUV, before another jumps in to help the family leave the vehicle. The family are seen being led by officers across the pond to the safety of the bank. WGNTV reported that a man, woman, and two-year-old child were rescued. Police said a preliminary investigation suggested that the accident happened when the driver mistook the gas for the brake pedal and drove into the water.
