USKK - Yr Hen Ogledd (full album, 2021)

For our second feature in this weeks’ Dungeon Synth Sunday, we introduce USKK - named after a Welsh-town near the home of the artist, and a project in thrall to its natural surroundings and the ancient spiritualism of regional legend. “Yr Hen Ogledd is a collection of ’poems’ exploring the Brittonic legends of the ’Old North’, and the lives of its inhabitants. Among them were bards, wizards, kings and giants. These poems are a tribute to those legacies, and the ancient and sacred land that offered long forgotten solitudes.“ An ancient, mystic atmosphere places this album within the shadow of the dungeon synth genre, but the murmuring forest within which USKK dwells holds influences from across the electronic ambient spectrum, in the bucolic ethereal shimmer of Boards of Canada, and the hauntology of Belbury Poly and The Advisory Circle. The album is available in digital from USKK directly, and will be released in a very limited run of tapes next Friday 4th June,
