A. Vivaldi - Filiae Maestae Jerusalem RV 638 - Sileant zephyri - English and Latin lyrics
Filiae Maestae Jerusalem is a text that concerns the sad daughters of Jerusalem after the death of Jesus Christ and the mourning of nature itself.
Philippe Jaroussky was the counter-tenor and conductor of this performance.
The Artwork: A frieze of the purple-winged god of the north wind, Boreas, one of the four seasonal Anemoi (Wind-Gods). He was also the god of winter who swept down from the cold mountains of Thrake (Thrace), chilling the air with his icy breath. I thought it fit the theme of the song quite well. I could not acquire any information about the artist, so if anyone contributes that I will add it to the description and give you credits.
This was a particularly tough one to translate, as some sentences are translated differently when they are standalone as opposed to when they are incorporated into a bigger sentence. The way it is performed switches some words around which contextually changes the meaning.
