How to paint dahlias, flowers, and other floral still life paintings! In this tutorial, I walk you through how I created this large oversized cafe au lait dahlia piece using a limited palette. This video predominantly covers colour mixing and blending, but also includes some of the difficulties that I encountered while trying to light the painting and film it in the new studio space. To quote Coldplay, this is what happens when you get what you want, but not what you need. I wanted this beautiful external studio space because I thought it would take my filming up another notch; it turns out the big, beautiful windows only created tons of glare. However, I thought it was worth sharing, because it’s the not-so-great parts of painting that pushes us to grow. Ultimately, I decided to move everything back home, and I am so excited to create new content showing you how I plan to make the most of my home studio space. We don’t need a fancy studio to make beautiful work; we just need to ca
