Bach - Chromatic Fantasia and fugue in D minor BWV 903 - Van Delft | Netherlands Bach Society

The ‘Chromatic’ Fantasia and fugue in D minor, performed by Menno van Delft for All of Bach, was already legendary in its day. It almost certainly started out as an improvisation. “When Bach improvised, he had power over all 24 keys; he could do whatever he wanted with them”. Biographer Forkel repeats it time and time again: Bach was a real wizard on the keyboard. Recorded for the project All of Bach on October 17th 2015 at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam.
