Kumiko - The Art of Wood setting - Japanese Traditional Art

The Japanese Art of woodword craftmanship - known as Kumiko, requires utmost dedication and precise cut to create one of the most stuning art form of its kind. Following Kurozu Tetsuo, one of the artisan who have been devote his life to this wonderful art form which sadly, is currently dying out. This art have been reported to be around since the Asuka era (600-700AD). This Japanese art was used mostly for sliding doors and room dividers. The reason for the decline in the number of artisans and this art throughout the years is the effort and the details one must put in until the finished product is made. Nowsaday, cheaper and quicker alternatives are available which is one of many factors contribute to the gradual disappearance of the Kumiko arts.
