James A. Emanuel reads “The Negro,“ “The Treehouse“ and “A View from the White Helmet,“ three poems admired by people whose opinions he liked, including Langston Hughes and Eleanor Roosevelt, as he explains here. These are among the poems that he read in Paris on July 25, 2011 when a guest to Janet Hulstrand’s American literature class “Paris: A Literary Adventure.“ This video was filmed by Gary Lee Kraut with permission of the poet. It accompanies an article on France Revisited, , by Janet Hulstrand in which she tells about her encounters with James A. Emanuel in the context of her teaching during the last 12 years of his life.
