Vladimir Horowitz, age 25, plays Two Chopin Etudes on Duo-Art Piano Roll

25-year-old Vladimir Horowitz plays two Chopin Etudes, the beautifully sad nocturne study Op. 10 No. 6 and the vigorous arpeggio study Op. 25 No. 12, sometimes called “The Ocean.“ This is one of Horowitz’s earliest recordings, made on Duo-Art roll #7287-4 in December 1928, the year he first came to America. I believe this recording demonstrates as well as any the capabilities of the Duo-Art system, delivering a much higher-fidelity performance than 78rpm Victrola or wax cylinder, before the microphone, ra
