He was Prince of Moldavia between 1457-1504. The song was written by Ștefan Octavian Iosif. This version is sung by the choir of the Putna monastery. Stephen the Great is well known due to the dozens of battles he had with the Ottomans, Poles, Hungarians, Tatars, Wallachians, etc. won by him.
