Alberto Ginastera - Pampeana No.1 for Violin and Piano (1947) (full score, w/brief analysis)
Alberto Ginastera (1916-1983) was an Argentinian Composer who combined dances and music of his native land with various modern idioms. Best-known works from him includes Danzas Argentinas, First Piano Concerto, and First Piano Sonata. His works can be categorized into three period, objective nationalism (till ), subjective nationalism (till ), and neo-expressionism (till the end). In the first period, he adapted elements from folk music directly. In the second period, he still adapted elements, but he did not directly adapted, but instead combine them with various elements to make it his own, unique music. In the last period, he adapted serialism, polytonality, microtones, and indeterminacy. Some musicologists divide the last period into two, with the last period (from ) as a separate one, where he returned to folk sources to produce a synthesis.
