A TV Boombox Without Much Boom, the GPX TV3 (1986)
This is a portable cassette and TV from 1986. This type of portable music player is generally known as a boom box, but as we see in the video it does not have a very powerful amplifier. It’s from a brand called GPX, or Gran Prix Electronics, which is an importer based in St. Louis. This television was purchased at Walgreens and not used much, because to be honest the sound quality is not very good. But it’s actually built with a higher level of quality than a lot of import stuff I see today. In this video we will clean it up, test the major functions, have a look at the inside circuit boards, and see if we can improve on the sound quality by applying equalization on the Kindle Fire using one of those car cassette adapters.
