M’lady’s Garter (1928)

Intertitle reads: “Why do people speak in whispers of these dainty articles of feminine wear? Making them, provides endless opportunities for deft fingers“. A woman cuts suede into small shapes to make leaves. These are then “veined“ with hot metal. We see a C/U of woman making lines on the suede with a metal tool previously heated over a flame. Woman cuts strips of fabric and sews the leaves on to pieces of elastic. The garter is presented to the camera. A tassel is also shown. This is sewn on to the garter. The finished item is shown in C/U. We then see the garter on a leg. Intertitle reads: “But here’s a novelty for the advanced garter enthusiast“. The camera pans up from a woman’s feet to show her lifting up her skirt to reveal an ornate garter. She takes something out of the garter which turns out to be a tiny powder puff!
