Restoring rusty Japanese chef knife - Knife restoration

I found this rusty old Japanese kitchen knife while browsing ebay. What a great find for my restoration projects. It has some rust and the handle needs to be replaced. I was a little surprised how much rust there was on the tang. Luckily it still had quite a bit of steel left so I didn’t have to weld a new one on. I used copper and walnut for the handle.
