Virtual Reality poker offers a very fun social experience in the same way live poker does, but it may take time to reach critical mass due to a restricted player pool. Augmented Reality AR poker has a few benefits that VR does not. With AR you can actively engage with your surroundings and even choose to use your Augmented Reality Glasses / Headset as more of a computer interface than an immersive experience. This allows for poker multi-tabling to occur from interested poker players, adding liquidity to the player pool. Metaverse Poker One day in the future there will likely be a space for casinos to operate online poker in the Metaverse, currently they run into a few different problems explored in today’s video. To start, the best way to experience the Metaverse is through AR or VR. Blockchain Poker Decentralization and a decentralized poker platform would create the opportunity for everyone in the world to play online poker. Poker on the Blockchain would also allow for provably fair poker games. Phil explores the ideas around ’crypto poker’ while revealing more thoughts on current poker regulation / online poker regulation in the U.S. Biometrics and Webcams Currently, playing high stakes poker is a game based on trust. You have to trust the poker site to protect you and you have to trust that people out there will try to cheat when lots of money is involved. Creating a poker game with safety features like biometric scans to prove you are who you say you are are one of the features Phil is hopeful for. Future Tech and Live Poker There are a lot of cool ways tech might advance playing poker, specifically in the live poker realm such as World Series of Poker tournaments. Phil is specifically excited about some sort of standardized clocks across poker tournaments and I’ll let him explain why! Neural Chip The introduction of a computer into our brains would alter the game of poker in unimaginable ways, likely making live poker and online poker a non-enjoyable game when you can load up a solver and optimal poker strategy in your brain.
