MS The crowd assembled in St Peters Sq. CU a man kneeling in prayer. LS the crowd. MS the Pope addressing the crowd, from a balcony. LS The enthusiastic crowd acclaiming Pope Pius XII (Cardinal Pacelli). MS The Pope gives a blessing. LS St Peters Cathedral with square in front, full of people. Start of the last coal mine to be sunk under private enterprise in Fyfe, Scotland. MS The Union Jack flying over the plot where the pit will be sunk. MS Mr Carlow (sp?) chairman of the Fyfe Coal Company digs the first sod of the new pit with a silver spade. CU Mr Carlow. MS Left to right, Colonel Baxter, the Earl of Elgin, Joseph Westwood and Mr Carlow standing by flag. CU of Westwood, Secretary of State for Scotland.
