N. Korea’s satellite launch “serious threat to aviation, maritime traffic“: UN official

안보리, 北위성발사 공식 논의 성명•결의 등 성과없이 종료 A UN official has called North Korea’s recent spy satellite launch a serious threat to aviation and maritime traffic. Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Khaled Khiari made the remarks during a UN Security Council session on the launch on Monday. South Korea, the U.S. and others condemned the launch as a violation of UN Security Council resolutions banning the regime from any launch using ballistic missile technology. But the session failed to produce any joint statement due to opposition from China and Russia. At the session, North Korean Ambassador to the UN Kim Song defended the launch as part of the North’s sovereign right adding “Is the U.S. launching its satellites with a balloon or a catapult, if not with a rocket“? South Korean Ambassador to the UN Hwang Joon-kook said that Pyongyang is now “almost mocking“ the Security Council. #UN_Security_Council #military_satellite #spy_satellite #military_provocation #missile #NorthKorea #KimJongun #reconnaissance_satellite #UN_Security_Council #UNSC #북한_군사정찰위성 #유엔안전보장이사회 #Arirang_News #아리랑뉴스 📣 Facebook : 📣 Twitter : 📣 Homepage : 2023-11-28, 09:00 (KST)
