TENEBRAE | EQUINOX

Live improvisational performance by candlelight held at sunset on the Spring Equinox, March 20, 2023, at the Congregational Church in Hollis, NH. Combining elements of electronic, classical, jazz, and post rock, this quiet ambient journey was intended to evoke the feeling of a sacred ceremony: theme was “darkness before the dawn,“ in keeping with being on the cusp of the equinox and the somber season of Lent. The field recording of whistling blackbirds was captured earlier that day. The drone that begins the piece blends sampled cello notes with a recording of a hum produced by the audience members who participated that evening.
