Digimon vs. Summer Wars: The Same Movie? 【デジモンとサマーウォーズを比較してみました。】

Both Summer Wars (2009) and the Second Digimon Movie: Bokura no War Game (2000) were directed by Mamoru Hosoda… and on closer inspection, these two movies have more in common than just being directed by the same person. This video will be a scene-for-scene comparison of the two movies. I have been wanting to make a video like this for years, but due to lacking in both time and technical know-how, I haven’t been able to do so until now. Do note that this is not an attempt to discredit Summer Wars. I absolutely love both movies and Summer Wars does have numerous differences that set itself apart from the Second Digimon Movie, however, the similarities that they share are nothing short of uncanny. While I do feel that good ideas can be reused, I see no reason why Mamoru Hosoda had to copy some elements verbatim, right down to the camera work and direction.
