The Milky Way, A Journey Across Land And Sea (4K) - A Yosemite Channel Time Lapse Film

This was filmed over a three year period and features the Milky Way core as it travels over beautiful landscapes, and seascapes. Also featured are several scenes of stars reflections on lakes. It was color graded to feature what is called “natural color.“ So, if you’re wondering why the night sky isn’t blue, this is why. Actually, the night sky is not blue like in the daytime, although many photographers mistakenly, or intentionally, will color grade it that way. It may look good and I sometimes do it myself, but it is not accurate. If you are interested in learning more about the real night sky colors- which aren’t blue- and what causes them, here is a link to Clarkvison. It is Roger Clark’s website. Roger is an MIT educated scientist and probably one of the world’s foremost authorities on color grading night sky digital images. He can be pretty technical at times but if you read his article, you’ll come away with a whole new understanding on what is really going on in the night sky. We would also like to extend our appreciation to Dani Padilla, and the Harris Beach Oregon Management Unit whose cooperation helped make the film’s ocean sequences on the Oregon Coast possible.
