Seperate Arm Rig (Maya Tips & Tricks)

a simple technique to create a free arm from body rig that actually look attached. I don’t know if there is a name for this type of character rigging, these type of characters can move their hands all over their body and usually, you use them on very stylized cartoony characters. a very simple way would be to just use round corner shader but that way if you look from the side arm-body intersection looks very sharp so instead, we can use this technique to blend the arm into the body. never tried it myself but I think it will look the best with characters that have fur on top. sorry for not including any voice over or subtitle instruction, I create these videos very fast just to answer someone’s questions.
