A New Volcanic Eruption has Begun in Iceland; 1,100 Meter Long Lava Fissure

A new volcanic eruption just began in Iceland northeast of a vent which is known as “Litli Hrútur“. The erupting fissure soon expanded to encompass a length of 1100 meters, and magma output likely reached around 60 cubic meters per second. Thus, the likely peak of Fagradsfjall’s eruption is ongoing, being approximately 6 times more intense than its 2021 eruption. This video discusses what might happen next, and where the eruption is located.
