Jay Moriarity - Big Wave Legend

Jay Moriarity is a legend in the sport of surfing who became known for dropping into the huge waves of “Mavericks“ at Half Moon Bay. Jay was a friend to all and was known for his smile. Moriarity passed away in 2001 during an apparent free-diving accident in the Maldives. A new film, “Chasing Mavericks“ attempts to chronicle his short life. This tribute clip aired in 2001 as part of the X Surf Series.
