On October 22, Hurricane Tammy struck Guadeloupe. Wind gusts reached 150 km/h. A red alert level has been declared on the islands. In Basse-Terre the rain rate is 100 mm per hour. The situation is catastrophic. Residents post videos of the natural disaster on social networks. Once again the rivers overflowed their banks. Floods have been reported in several areas and roads are blocked. Although there were no casualties, the hurricane caused serious property damage. Electrical poles were knocked down in some areas. As a result, 80% of Guadeloupe temporarily lost electricity and communications. Hurricane Tammy is now moving north. The islands of Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin have declared a red alert.
