The Beatles had a very busy day on October 18, 1964. It was a day off during their UK tour and the deadline for finishing their album “Beatles for Sale“ was drawing near. The group managed to squeeze in a recording session before they left for Edinburgh the next day. This recording session lasted for over nine hours and resulted in SEVEN new Beatles songs from start to finish. Around 11:00 that night, the group began to work on three of their favorite cover songs finishing with Chuck Berry’s “Rock and Roll Music“. The Group knocked it out live in a single take! No overdubs were needed. Much debate has been spread about who played piano on this song. The general consensus is that George Martin played piano live as the band was recording the take. Derek Taylor claims that it was George Martin WITH both John and Paul. This would have been impossible considering most sources claim there to be no overdubs.
