Roshan defense lore

The severe punishment that awaited Roshan was an eternity. Aegis of the Immortal is now bound to the monster and making him unable to die. Every time you are defeated, Roshan will rise and return to holding Aegis of the Immortal. He also can’t come out of hiding, like what players will find in the game. This curse makes Roshan will be hunted continuously. The heroes in Dota 2 will try to take Aegis of the Immortal from Roshan by defeating it and the monster will live again to claim Aegis again and repeat the usual cycle of karma. If you think about it, this is a severe torment that makes Roshan constantly hunted and considered a monster.
