Powerful storm destroys Michigan, United States. 600,000 without power, trees down Michigan, United States, August 25, 2023. The devastating storm that hit Southeast Michigan late Thursday has left thousands of people without power, roads flooded, trees downed, several people killed and widespread damage. More than 600 thousand people do not get electricity. Basements and business streets were flooded. 13 semi trucks overturned, and 22 other vehicles were damaged. One person was reported dead after a tree fell on a house in Lansing. Another person died after the car & semi truck overturned in high winds on I-96 near Williamston Road. A woman and 2 children died in Kent County after their car skidded during a storm and crashed. The hardest hit area was Newport in Monroe County, where Frenchtown Villa Trailer Park suffered much damage, and Plymouth and Canton, where several hundred homes were damaged.
