Kommunizm (Egor Letov) - Stop The Rolling Stones

Egor Letov’s anti-folk, anti-classic rock, anti-everything classic from the album Let It Be. Well, that’s my interpretation. Apparently the real subject matter of the song is a bit different than the chorus implies: “...For me the peak of this album, though, has to be the 15th track, “Stop The Rolling Stones,“ about an American hippie who travels around the Soviet boonies with his guitar, winning the hearts and minds of the Russian people and spreading international good will through bad cover versions of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, only to be deported back to the States to begin training for war in Vietnam. “Rock and roll is the enemy of the people,“ indeed.“
