This lakorn is definitely an interesting one, putting a transgender woman in centre stage. Nira, who never felt like she belonged decided to take revenge for her and her mother’s abuse after undergoing surgery, meeting her families who were also her tormentors as a completely different person. This gives a good POV on the LGBTQ community and has created a lot of buzz especilly with the vaginal dialator scene. The acting was superb especially by Baifern (she was selected due to her husky voice) who nailed the traumatised trans woman with her tragic past and mental issues. Yet I can’t help but noticed that it feels a bit biased. There are 4 cis women in this story with 2 of them on the similar age and physical level as Nira yet both of them are envious and bad. It’s as if cis women are always jealous of transgender women and that jealousy leads to malice and abuse. Part of it is true because I once sat next to a transgender woman in a flight and all I could think of was how beautiful she is after that expensive surgery and me being a woman all my life and looking like a potato. Yet, I’d never do anything like that is shown in the lakorn. The abuse that the LGBTQ community is pretty much real yet they need to stop generalising that cis women are antagonistic towards transgender women.
