’There needs to be a referendum’ on UK’s net zero plan

Reform UK leader Richard Tice says UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s net zero plan needs a “referendum”. It comes amid rising concerns within the UK over the push for net zero leading to soaring living prices. Mr Johnson unveiled plans to drive down carbon emissions, including measures to replace gas boilers with low carbon alternatives. “It is indeed very cold here in the UK as we approach winter, and the costs are absolutely huge, we’re talking about if you have to replace your boiler with something called a heat pump, it could be a cost of 15-20,000 pounds sterling just to install it,” Mr Tice told Sky News host Rita Panahi. “So, what we’re saying actually is that there needs to be a referendum, I rather like referendums, I was very involved in the Brexit referendum. “We should have a referendum, rather like they just recently had in Switzerland, where the great Swiss people rejected the government’s net zero plans. “This is going to literally change our lifestyle. “We all want cleaner air, w
