St Ledger Races - Doncaster (1910-1919)

St Ledger Races - Doncaster. South Yorkshire. Opens w/ many police standing at foot of the bench seating bleacher area; w/ more coming down from the bleachers. Next; pan on masses of police packed tightly between track and stands. 3 policemen walk past in FG. No spectators in the stands yet. Crowd watching as some group marches through actually it looks like women in uniform; one of the women’s auxiliary groups? - may be unrelated. GV pan rt. on crowd behind fence at the track (not by the stands but at a different part of the track);only 1 policeman in front of crowd here. (Possibly the reason for the massive law-enforcement attendance is concern about another suffragette disturbance; after a woman ran onto the track and was killed at the Derby in 1913.)
