OH SHIT at The Towering Inferno: Steve McQueen at his best!

Steve McQueen, as Fire Chief Mike O’Hallorhan in “The Towering Inferno,“ gives his iconic response--both verbally and nonverbally--to Dabney Coleman’s Fire Chief character’s suicidal mission his character accepts sardonically, calling himself “...a dumb son of a bitch“ in the process. This is the role that solidified his position as the world’s number one movie star. He and Paul Newman commanded the top roles as the biggest box office draws for years. When McQueen read the script, he deleted over half of his lines in the script; many of them were given to others or eliminated altogether. His character doesn’t even appear until 43 minutes into the movie; once he shows up, it’s clear he’s at the helm of the action from that point on.
