The Rusty Nails - Gone

Текст с Bandcamp’а: “Never really played this one live (see below for why). On the album “No Miracles in Ruins“, I had this track separated from ’Broken Teeth and Limestone’ (the next track on this comp) even though I originally wrote the two songs as one piece. I decided to bring them back together for this “best of“ compilation. Everywhere I go, I get the wolfen eyes Loneliness grows, the wolf eyes widen Cold hearts rule as the wolf eyes scowl and the Cities are lonely as the escorts thrive Tear the building down it’s standing for nothing. I see that you have fallen for it but it should be falling for you.* So much to do and no one to do it with. So much to see, I’ll see it alone. Tear the building down it’s standing for nothing. I see that you have fallen for it but it should be falling for you.* It’s preying on me. It’s preying on you. It’s preying on lonely me and it’s preying on lonely you. It’s all standing right before me. It’s all as good as gone. *So about 2 years after this song was recorded, 9/11 occurred (where yours truly almost died by the way) and so I was a bit sensitive about playing this song because of this lyric. But to be honest, I wasn’t specifically referring to the twin towers or any other known skyscraper. Just using “the building“ as a symbol of false, misguided and superficial ambition. from History In The Rust (the best of The Rusty Nails), released September 18, 2016 Brett Alexander Boye - Bagpipes, Vocals, Guitar, Acoustic Guitar Kevin Cooper - Bass Paul Chell - Twelve String Guitar Matt Houser - Drums & Piano Recorded at Duck Kee Studios by Jerry Kee in Mebane, NC sometime between November of 1998 and June of 1999.
