Why Do Some People Have Dimples and Some Don’t ?

In this video, I’ll answer the question - why do some people have dimples and some don’t? Dimples are small indentations on the cheeks – usually on the sides of the mouth – but they can also occur on other parts of the body, including on the chin and on the lower back. Not everyone has them, though. So why do some people have dimples and some don’t? Most people believe that dimples are dominant genetic traits that are inherited from one’s parents. However, this is often disputed, with researchers pointing to the fact that no evidence exists that they are linked to genetics. Whether or not they’re inherited, dimples are widely regarded to be anomalies in the muscles and in the skin of the face. To be more specific, they’re called a “bifid zygomaticus major muscle,” which means that the muscle divides itself into two different parts before attaching to the cheek. 00:00 Intro 00:19 Overview: Dimples 00:51 What is the bifid zygomaticus major muscle 01:18 Some people’s dimples disappear 02:11 Wrapping up #LetsTeach #DimplesExplained #Dimples
