200 Palestinians dead in 24 hours says Hamas as Israel ramps up fighting in Gaza

Israel has claimed to have arrested 200 Hamas members and Islamic Jihadists while the militant group says the same number of Palestinians have been killed in the space of 24 hours. Despite growing calls for a ceasefire, Israel has vowed to ramp up fighting in Gaza until Hamas is removed from power. The UN Security Council has adopted a watered-down solution to speed up aid into the enclave but has failed to acknowledge calls for another truce between the two sides. In North Gaza, block after block in ruins as streets have been churned up by tanks and bulldozers, with buildings destroyed by airstrikes as Israeli drones buzz overhead.
