The Mod 4 from Aledo, Illinois with their original tune “A Puppet“ recorded at Fredlo Recording Studios in Davenport, IA in the late spring of 1968. The group, billed as the youngest all-girl combo in the country, consisted of Alice Appleton (organ), Nellie Hastings (lead guitar), Barb Stutsman (bass guitar) and Kathy Talkin (drums). The song was written and sung by Nellie Hastings. The flip side “Open Up Your Mind“ was also written by Hastings:
