2 HOURS DIBLO DIBALA SOUKOUSS 🎸80’s PT. 1 SEBENOLOGY

Hellooooo! Mbote! Bonjour! Holaaaa! Jamboooo! Welcome back to Sebenology! Yacomba Dibala alias Diblo Dibala, born in 1954 in Kisangani in the RDC, home of the Baluba people, is the one of the greatest African guitarists to exist.. At the age of 6 Diblo moved to Kinshasa. Diblo became fascinated by the sounds of the guitar from hearing in his neighborhood. He first started in Vox Africa as bass player before switching to lead guitar. At age of 15 he was playing guitar in the great Franco’s TPOK band. His first recording was Elidjo Motema ( In Kinshasa, Diblo continued to master his lava-hot guitar chops with Ifanza, La Gait, Bana Mambo with Kanda Bongo Man and Bella Bella. In 1979, Diblo left Kinshasa and landed in Brussels where he played a rented guitar and washed dishes to make money. He had a local band called Bana Moins. In 1981, he reunited with Kanda Bongo Man and landed a record deal with Afro Rythmes label. The album was a immense sense and two would become a dynamic duo throughout the early-mid 1980’s. Diblo also contributed to a lot of sessions in African diaspora scene. In the mid 1980’s, he left Kanda to create Loketo with vocalist, Aurlus Mabele. A lot of classic albums were being made but the relationship would end when Diblo leaves to create his own band, Matchatcha in 1990. Diblo and Matchatcha have toured around the world and made people dancing with his rapid wicked guitar solos. He recently have collaborated and toured with artists from Colombia, Cartagena and Barranquilla where the Soukous scene is hot🔥. Diblo considers George Benson of Jazz and the Franco Luambo Makiadi (RIP) as his greatest influences!
