Paul Jacobs plays Busoni, Sonatina Seconda

Sonatina Seconda – Feruccio Busoni (1866–1924) Paul Jacobs – piano The second of Busoni’s six Sonatinas was written in 1912. It is one of the composer’s most adventurous pieces, in style lying somewhere between the neurotic expressionism of Schönberg and the sensuous impressionism of Debussy. Like so many of Busoni’s significant works, some of the musical material ended up in his magnum opus the opera ‘Doktor Faust’.
