Part One: The legendary epic picture about events of the Great Patriotic War. The storyline of the steelworker Alexei Ivanov, who volunteered for the front, is woven into the historical context. All the most important events of the war are shown through Alexei’s personal participation in them: from the famous military parade in November 1941 near the Kremlin walls to the hoisting of the Victory Banner over the Reichstag in May 1945. In the final scene, Stalin arrives in Berlin and is enthusiastically greeted by people of various nationalities, including Alexei and his girlfriend Natasha.
