Bach Church in Arnstadt, Germany

While on tour with CSO I was extremely fortunate to be able to visit the Bach Church in Arnstadt, Germany and play this organ, originally built in 1703 by J.F. Wender. This church was J.S. Bach’s first job as organist (1703-1707) and he played this instrument. The organ was fully rebuilt in 1999, but still contains many of the original pipes. It also has two zimbelsterns (rotating bells), tuned to G Major and C Major. You can hear the C Major bells at the end of this clip. Scott Hostetler January 2024
